Shelf life:

The shelf life of hand-crafted soap varies, but because it is all-natural and doesn’t contain chemicals or preservatives, plan on a shelf life of at least a year. Beyond one year, the shelf life depends on conditions of storage and oils used.

Properties of oils:

Olive Oil

Excellent moisturizer. Does not block the natural functions of the skin.

Coconut Oil

Excellent moisturizer that reduces rancidity. Makes a nice, hard soap that’s full of lather.

Avocado oil

Easily absorbed by the skin. Known to regenerate skin cells and soften tissue.

Shea Butter

Soothes and softens dry, chapped skin. Nourishes all skin types.

Properties of Essential oils:

We purchase our essential oils from Bulk Apothecary. More detailed information about the oils we use in our soaps can be found at their website. Below is a brief overview of just a few of the properties of these wonderful essential oils:

Lavender

Soothing, relieves stress, helps relax; can treat acne, psoriasis, wrinkles, and inflammation; can act as a natural mosquito and moth repellent.

Lemongrass

Helps fight acne; an anti-depressant; fortifies the nervous system.

Peppermint

Uplifting, relaxing scent.

Tangerine

Clears the mind; eliminates mental confusion.

Vanilla

Sensual aphrodisiac; comforting and relaxing.

Care of soap:

It is important that hand-crafted, all-natural soap bars dry between uses. If allowed to become water-logged, they will melt/disintegrate. Some people recommend using two bars and alternating them between uses, or cutting one in half to alternate. We recommend using a soap dish that permits the soap to dry.
